Bishop’s Profile

The Rt. Rev. Alfred N.O. Aryeetey was born on 12th July, 1952. He was the 7th child to the late Emmanuel Aryeetey and the late Emma Oye Aryeetey. They were both class leaders of the St. Luke Methodist Church, Abossey Okai, Accra. Alfred started his education at the Abossey Okai Methodist Primary (1958-1964) and then Methodist Boys’ Middle School, Hansen Road (1964-1966). He had his secondary education at the Odorgonno Secondary School (1966-1971) and was trained as a teacher at the Presbyterian Training College, Akropong-Akuapem (1972-1974).

In 1980, having taught for six (6) years at the Lartebiokorshie Middle School, he answered te call to the Ministry and was trained at the Trinity College, Legon (Now Trinity Theological Seminary). In 1983, he graduated with a Diploma in Theology. In the same year, Alfred was commissioned at the Wesley Cathedral, Sunyani and upon successful completion of his probation studies, he was received into full Connexion and ordained at the Sekondi Conference of the Methodist Church in 1986.

He served the Accra Diocese as its Statistician for fourteen years and as the Synod Secretary for Accra Diocese from 2005-2012. Again, he also served as the Synod Secretary for the Somanya Diocese from 2012 to 2014. The Rt. Rev. Alfred Aryeetey has encountered, counseled, mentored quite a number of young men and women in various disciplines of life and more especially those who felt called by God to take the decision of entering into the ordained Ministry.

Alfred was a member of the Accra Metropolitan Health Committee under the Accra Metro Assembly and Metro Heath Directorate (GHS). The Rt. Rev. Alfred Aryeetey got married to Wilhelmina Aryeetey (Nee Quansah) on 9th February 1980. Their marriage has been blessed with three children: Cecilia, William and Aaron. He is also grateful to God for his wife and children who have supported him in his Ministry.

Alfred acknowledged with gratitude all societies he has served, Ministers especially the Most Rev Prof. Emanuel K . Asante, Rt. Rev. Abraham Tagoe, Rt. Rev. Titus K. Awotwe Pratt, Rt. Rev. Albert O. Wright, Lay Brethren, his siblings and the entire family who have supported, inspired and encouraged him in his Ministry. He invites all to continue to pray for him in his new office as Bishop of Somanya.
